I-Phones beeped, Mac’s hummed, and two ladies of a certain age laughed with delight as the former 1966-67 co-editors-in-chief of the LHS student newspaper, The Jet Jotter, connected via email this week after a 50 year delay.
Chock full of breaking sports news, student profiles, and at times controversial editorials, the monthly paper won the prestigious Columbia University Quill and Scroll award for excellence in high school journalism in 1967.
Both women, Penny Baum Moldofsky of PA and Nancy Dale of Boston, attribute their success in those days to their faculty mentor, the late John X. Lynch, and to a strong staff of student editors, writers, and photographers.
